About us

WTIBeam has evolved from 1988, when Warrnambool Timber Industries was formed by Tim Goodall (Goodall Family) to offer a flexible, cost effective, environmentally friendly alternative in construction products. Today it is still the same family business, operated by Tim’s daughter Edwina and her husband Jason Vulcz.

Specialising in glue laminated beams, WTIBeam manufactures an extensive range of laminated timber products that are used Australia-wide and exported to international building markets.

Combining modern technologies, modern plant and forward vision with years of industry experience, WTIBeam has built a solid reputation of professionalism, efficiency and top quality products.

WTIBeam’s history

WTIBeam (previously known as Warrnambool Timber Industries) was started in the late 1980s by Dianne and Timothy Goodall, to manufacture GLT beams for their construction business. Tim loved using GLT beams in all his buildings, usually high-end residential housing, but struggled to source reliable supply. In their garage an idea took shape using the skills of their families, to start manufacturing their own beams. Thus Warrnambool Timber Industries was born. Over the coming years, the Goodall’s started making more beams for other builders. It soon eclipsed their building business and they poured all their time into Warrnambool Timber Industries.

40 years later, WTIBeam is one of the largest manufacturers of GLT beams in the country using ONLY Australian timber. Together, the Goodall’s have been integral in the timber industry, serving on various Australian Standards and working groups through the GLTAA (Glue laminated Timber Association of Australia), as well as continuing training for the industry serving on the Timber Training Creswick Board. In addition, they have served as president to both organisations for many years.

Quality & safety

WTI Beam conducts regular reviews and independent audits of its quality systems to ensure staff and clients benefit from safe, efficient work practices and production methods. Staff training is also a priority, to ensure that the company’s production methods are up-to-date and result in the best possible product.

WTI Beam is a proud member of the Glued Laminated Timber Association of Australia (GLTAA), which guarantees that Warrnambool Timber Industries’ products comply with Australian Standards (AS 1328).

Environmentally friendly

WTI Beam maintains a strong commitment to the environment by producing Glulam beams sourced only from plantation timber.

The timber used in constructing the glulam beams is of the highest quality and utilises parts of plantation pine that, despite its superior quality would otherwise be discarded due to the shorter individual lengths.

WTI Beam takes these shorter lengths and joins them to produce the longer beams, ensuring that no timber is left to waste during the manufacturing process.

WTI Beam’s glulam beams also offer greater energy efficiency. Timber’s greenhouse gas emissions are more than 20 times less than those omitted by steel. Timber also offers superior heat conduction properties.

And because glulam beams are available in longer lengths and have greater spanning capabilities than traditional sawn timber, fewer supporting beams are needed. This allows for more flexible designs, as well as retaining the ease of using timber during construction.
